In September 2008, City Tree Christian School adopted St. Paul's as its Liberian sister school. Touched by the plight of Liberian children, many of whom had never had the opportunity to attend school, the City Tree students from preschool through eighth grade are raising funds for St. Paul's by collecting change and organizing other fund-raising events. In just the first week of the sister-school partnership, the City Tree children collected so much change that they filled collection canisters. The City Tree students also have plans to organize uniform, shoe and school-supply drives for the St. Paul's students and classrooms. The children at both schools are getting to know each other by exchanging letters, photos and artwork. And, the City Tree middle school students are already thinking about future missions to Liberia to help their sister school and new Liberian friends.

During fourteen years of civil war, St. Paul's Presbyterian School in Gardnersville, Liberia was bombed several times and had fallen into disrepair. Riddled with bullet holes and bereft of books, adequate furniture, supplies, or a functioning restroom, it struggled on to educate a handful of students in a community where no public school is available.
But all that changed in December 2007 when a team of caring San Diegans from First Presbyterian Church flew to Liberia to refurbish the school. Now, with the help of individual sponsors and City Tree Christian School in San Diego, over 200 poor Liberian children are able to attend the refurbished St. Paul's and learn from a staff of qualified teachers.
